Take a wild ride through early American history with Hamilton, the rap-and-hip-hop infused new musical about Alexander Hamilton, our most controversial founding father, now on Broadway after a sell-out engagement at Off-Broadwayââ¬â¢s Public Theater. Tony, Grammy and Emmy winner Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights) wrote the music, lyrics and book and plays the lead role, a scrappy immigrant defying the elitist establishment to help forge a new country on his own terms. From orphan bastard to George Washingtonââ¬â¢s top aide, Hamilton rises to the top of the newborn government as the first Treasury Secretary. Desipte the machinations of his rivals Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, he survives the countryââ¬â¢s first sex scandal, but not the famous duel with his nemesis Aaron Burr.
Director Thomas Kail and choreographer Andy Blakenbuehler who collaborated on In the Heights repeat their staging chores here. In addition to Miranda, the cast includes Leslie Odom, Jr. (Smash) as Aaron Burr, Christopher Jackson (Holler If Ya Hear Me) as George Washington, Phillipa Soo (Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812) as Eliza Hamilton, Renee Elise Goldsberry (The Good Wife) as Angelica Schuyler, and Jonathan Groff (Looking) as King George III.

Good for kids?
Kids 12 and up will love this hip-hop history lesson and it will probably earn them street cred with their friends and high-fives from their teachers, but it may be a trifle adult for younger children.
