Interlaken does not have an
airport. The closest airports are: Zürich-Kloten - 2 Hours Genf-Cointrin - 2 Hours Basel-Mulhouse - 1 1/2 Hours Bern-Belp - 45 Minutes Regular train service is available to and from airports and other cities. Trains are a very dependable means of transportation in Switzerland - you can set your clock by them! We suggest you first check with your hotel to see if shuttle service is available. |

Driving from Zurich to Interlocken |
There are two options to
reach Interlaken from Kloten Airport. First the easy one: At the airport get onto the Autobahn and follow the signs that lead you to Bern. Try to avoid the rush hour approx 4-6pm. This will take you a little over an hour to get to Bern. If you have time a stop in Bern would be worth it. They have an old town with great shopping under the arcades. Should you not stop stay on the Autobahn towards Thun/Spiez, follow the signs to Interlaken. This should take you another hour. Enjoy the views along Lake Thun! Another route would be to drive to Lucerne. This is more a mountainous drive. Ask your car rental representative which would be the best way, either through the city of Zurich or also taking the "Nordring" Autobahn like going to Bern, but once you get on the N1 follow the signs to Lucerne. Stay on the Autobahn and follow the signs going towards Sarnen/Meiringen. This drive brings you over the Brünig Pass. This road is rather winding one. Before getting into Brienz follow the signs to get onto the Autostrasse (Iseltwald-Interlaken). Exit in Interlaken and follow the signs to the center of town. As hotels I would recommend the Hotel Oberland. Right in the center of town with restaurants and bar. Check out our website for special coupon offers. Another hotel which will soon be featured on our website is the Hotel DuNord also on the Hoehenweg near the Casino. Check out their website www.hotel-dunord.ch. Should you make a reservation there tell them you were referred to them (or Mrs. Engel) by destinationcoupons.com (Mrs. Ryser)and don't hestitate to ask them for a special rate. They have a wonderful restaurant! Hope you have a safe trip - let us know if we can be of further help. |

Nightlife in Interloken |
"Hi. How r u...I
just want to ask u how is night life in Interlaken" -Akash Hello there. As everywhere in Switzerland there are quite a lot of bars andpubs in Interlaken. There are also 3-4 Discos. One of them, the Black & White, is located in the Hotel Metropole which is in the center of town (tallest building in town) and then there is the Casino where you may gamble if you are 20 years or older. They also have different events depending on the time of year you would be visiting. Hope this helps - have fun! - Esther |

Hello, We are two
brothers travelling from Canada to Venice and then from Venice we plan
to take a train to Interlaken. We intend to stay there for a few days

to, where the youth/student hostels are and what are the "things to do" there. Thanks for your help - Mike & Sam Hello, Coming from Italy to Interlaken, take the train to Interlaken West. The Youthhostel is located in Bönigen, 1/2 hr from the Center of Interlaken. It has 150 beds and they also have their own web site boenigen@youthhostel.ch. Check it out! Youth Hostel in German is Jugendherberge. Take a trip up to the Jungfrau Joch. Take the train from Interlaken Ost to Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Kl. Scheidegg up to the Jungfrau. On your return take the train back going via Grindelwald. If you want to hike take the train to Lauterbrunnen, go up to Muerren where you may take hikes from or take the cable car up to the Schilthorn and hike down to Mürren.
