Since 1882 a coal-fired,
steam-powered train has been running the narrow gauge tracks
between Durango and Silverton, Colorado carrying valuable
ores, equipment, food, supplies and passengers. The mines
have closed down and now the precious cargo is tourists
stepping back in time to experience the history of an
authentic steam train and the beauty of the Colorado
The D&SNGRR travels 45 miles each way along the Animas River
from Durango to Silverton May through October. Want to spend

before going to Silverton? Want to get back to Durango
faster? Riding the D&SNG bus one way is your ticket to
having it your way!
Lunch, snacks, beverages, bar drinks and souvenirs are
available for purchase on our concession car.
Free Entry to The Train Museum! The train museum,
open from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM each day that the train runs,
holds a collection of antique trains, planes and memorabilia
that is second to none. Located in the roundhouse, this
museum is a must see for all visitors to Durango.
