Average
temperatures: January is between -10F (C) and 41F (5C). July is between 61F (16C) and 86F (30C). If you are traveling to New Mexico you should pack casual clothes (unless a formal event is planned), sunblock lotion rated SPF-15 or higher, a sun hat, a comfortable pair of walking shoes and a lightweight jacket for the cool evenings. Layered, loose-fitting clothing is a sensible choice, since it will enable you to adapt more easily to the changing weather. Winters can be very cold, especially in mountain areas, so dress accordingly. |

Most
health risks in Durango are related to altitude: altitude sickness,
hypothermia and sunburn. Bring your sunscreen with you (especially in
the winter). Drink lots of water. Layer your clothing in winter and
stick to natural fabrics - cotton and wool - if possible. |

FAQ |
"Hi
Leah, We are traveling from Brisbane, Australia to Utah later this year.
We will be driving from Las Vegas east to Moab arriving at about the
time of their "Fat Tyre Bike Festival". We would prefer not to
book ahead as we don't want to keep to a schedule. Will accommodation be
easy to find on arrival around the 19th of October 2001." - Julie If you arrive exactly during the festival, you will need to reserve a room. Sometimes, every hotel room in the town is booked. If you don't want to reserve a room, here are a couple options: 1. Make sure you don't arrive during the festival 2. Camp during the days that the festival is going on. 3. Make reservations at a place that gives you a 24 hour cancellation policy. Any of these things would work. |
