Welcome
to the Pera Palace, built in 1892 for the purpose of hosting the
passengers of the Orient Express and boasting fabulous views of the
Golden Horn. The Hotel has been a
favorite haunt of the rich and famous since its opening - kings,
queens, spies, statesmen and artists from all over the world.
The hotel had a very special place in the life of best-selling
author Agatha Christie who stayed in the hotel many times between
1926 and 1932 and where one of the best-known stories, The
Orient Express, was written.
Room number 411 is now preserved in her honor. Mustafa Kemal
Ataturk of Turkey was a guest at the Pera Palace, while he
prepared for the Turkish War of Independence. Room 101, where he
had stayed during his visits to Istanbul is now kept as a museum
with the original memorable.
