Most
health risks in San Diego are related to the heat. It gets mighty hot so bring your sunscreen with you (even if
you think you will be inside all the time). Drink lots of water. We also
suggest that on days where you will spend most of your time outside (i.e.
the day you visit the zoo) that you wear a broad brimmed hat or base ball
cap and sunglasses. This will not only help you keep cool, but will
prevent harmful UV rays from scorching your face and eyes. During the
rainy season, make sure to keep dry so as to prevent catching cold.
If you travel to Mexico, keep in mind that you should not sample fresh
fruits or vegetables. Mexican water is not very clean and eating
things washed in it that aren't cooked could lead to food poisoning.
Enjoy all the spicy, hot flavors of Mexico, just stay away from anything
raw.

San Diego is generally a safe place for
travelers who observe all normal precautions Don't leave personal items,
purses, valuables unattended. Dress inconspicuously (remove
convention badges when leaving the convention area etc.), and, if
possible, attain a map pf the city from the traveler information center,
the internet or other sources so you have a better understanding of where
you are going before you leave. Knowing where you're going can help
greatly in keeping from getting lost. There are also a few precautions you
should take at the beach: check with lifeguards about any unsafe
conditions such as dangerous rip tides or water pollution. This will help
insure that your vacation is an enjoyable one.
